Cognitive effect of rapid speech and its interpretation on target audience

Abstract

Numerous studies examine user groups' evaluation of simultaneous interpretation quality or of certain criteria of simultaneous interpretation, but what is the real effect of the input on the target audience regardless their subjective evaluation? The presented study is an ongoing project of the author. Its aim is to examine a cognitive effect of chosen interpreting strategies on the target audience.

In particular, it aims to examine the effect of the language compression technique on interpretation users in case of a rapid speech. The presentation contained an overview of the research question, aims and methodology of the study as well as an outline of current progress and expected results of the study.
