The Reconstruction of the State is a joint movement of NGOs, academics, and businesses in the Czech Republic. They have identified nine laws to fight corruption.

Subsequently, the movement launched a citizens' advocacy campaign like none other. As a result, more than 1500 candidates running for a mandate in the parliamentary election in October 2013 pledged themselves to support the laws striven for.

When the votes were counted, 166 out of the 200 newly elected deputies had signed to support at least one of the laws. What is the explanation of this success? Public grievance over corruption? Strong alliance of multiple sectors and their sharing resources? The threat of losing the last traces of legitimacy in the spree of corruption scandals which forced politicians to yield to the pressure?
