Variability tests for occult blood used by general practitioners in screening for colorectal cancer in the Czech Republic

Abstract

In 2009, innovations in colorectal cancer screening were made with the aim of achieving better results. Aside from stool guaiac tests, immunochemical tests with higher sensitivity and specificity were also introduced.

With increasing adherence in the Czech population, however, there was also a significant increase in the number of positive immunochemical tests, which can lead to a fear of a higher number of false positives. In the Czech Republic, there has not yet been a survey published of the various types of immunochemical tests and their cut-off settings.
