Sorption of artificial radionuclides onto river bed sediments and its relationship on the sediment properties

Abstract

In connection to a research of influence of accidental contamination on hydrosphere, sorption of artificial radionuclides onto sediments was studied. Sorption onto the solid phase plays a key role in this contaminant behaviour in the water environment.

Radionuclide sorption was described with distribution coefficients determined using a batch method. Further, relationships between the sorption of particular radionuclides and the sediment quality were assessed.
