The paper is focused on the practical and ethical aspects of oral-historical research with representatives of the intellectual elites (ie. scientists, academics, artists, medical doctors, politicians and others.). On a few concrete examples of research, already carried out in the Czech context, I will try to point out specific problems that have to be solved flexibly by a researcher during fieldwork, which is oriented towards a relatively closed community of social elites.

The main attention will be paid to the issues of contacting narrators, their expectations from project, personal sympathy and antipathy (relationship between an interviewer and a narrator), authorization and publication of interviews.
