In this presentation I will be speaking about several selected parts of Wakan Rōeishū, the famous collection of Chinese couplets and Japanese waka, compilation of which is attributed to Fujiwara no Kintō (966-1041). The main aim of this presentation is to examine the three main groups of poems included in Rōeish ū (Chinese couplets by Chinese poets, Chinese couplets by Japanese poets and Japanese waka poems) and to elucidate the differences between them and the way they were chosen and fitted together thematically.
