Abstract
In this paper we deal with two characteristics idioms which phraseologists mostly work with - expression and semantic consistency of the change at least one of the constituents of an idiom. We are dedicated mainly to how the basic characteristics of idioms describe some Serbian, Croatian, Czech and Slovak linguists and what conclusions result from these characteristics.
