Libraries of Village and Provincial Intellectuals in the Late 18th and Early 19th Century

Abstract

The contribution analyses composition of libraries of Czech minor intelligence representatives in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. We examine the inventories of prints in the libraries of F.

J. Vavák, F.

L. Hek, F. de Paula Švenda and J.

J. Ryba.

We use the inventory of F. M.

Pelcl's library as a control sample. The main comparing criteria are the number of prints, the theme of the books, and also the language and the period of their release.
