New alternatives and approaches in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer

Abstract

Author presented an overview of actual therapeutic decision algorithmus for the treatment of advanced non small cell lung cancer. Predictors of effective chemotherapy and targeted therapy are histology and mutational status of tumour DNA.

Mutations of EGFR and rearregment of EML-4 ALK are predictors of effective treatment with EGFR and EML-ALK inhibitors, erlotinib, gefitinib and afatinib, respectively crizotinib or ceritinib. Therapeutic approach becomes more sophisticated, but the results of treatment are getting better.
