Eugenics enthusiasm: Humanity and the betterment of the nation

Abstract

The author wants to analyze three papers of major representatives of an eugenics movement in interwar Czechoslovakia - Bretislava Foustka, Vladislav Ruzicka and Bohumil Sekla. The aim is to demonstrate the connection between topics of Czech biology and czech philospohy.

Judgements and conceptual aparatus is based on an example of humanism, which in scientific and philosophical discourse played crucial role. Czech form of eugenics is also compared with the German racial hygiene.
