Romanians and Aromanians

Abstract

The Romanian and Aromanian minorities were considered two distinctive groups by the socialist Yugoslav state. As a result of their status as national minorities, Romanians enjoyed benefits, such as cultural institutions and education in their own language.

On the other hand, Aromanians were not granted these possibilities. Despite creating their own organizations during Tito's rule, Milosevic's administration was rather hostile towards them and suppressed their political activities.
