Acute bronchial obstruction in infants and toddlers: diagnostic and therapeutic pitfalls

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2015

Abstract

Our review article describes inconsistent terminology of states of acute bronchial obstruction in infants and toddlers between different countries and societies. These differences should be considered before interpreting the results of foreign studies.

We then compare the treatments recommended in recent guidelines by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the European Respiratory Society. We highlight the d ifferences between these documents and provide an overview of the medicines used and their clinical effects observed in controlled studies.
