Abstract

Central Europe is an independent entity, historically influenced by particular distribution of political forces. Central European area is commonly overlooked for its eceonomic and political development, but its geopolitical and geostrategic importance is undeniable.

Central European region is defined in its geographical, political, econimc and institutional countours. Identifies its main characteristics, pays attention to the current discourse.

In the Central European region includes the seven states. This choice justifies, and presents their historical analysis, a comparison of their economic development and transition strategies.
