Abstract

The article presents readers with some of the results of research in the form of a specific model of implementing supervision in the discipline of qualifying education for nurses at university in the Czech Republic. Qualitative research was conducted in the form of a dissertation project entitled "Current practice and the possibilities of employing supervision in nursing".

This pilot project mapped out the implementation of the concept of supervision in the discipline of nursing in the Czech Republic (individual forms, configurations, methods). The principal objective of the paper was to find an answer to the following question: How do nurses / university educators in nursing interpret and practically apply the concept of supervision and the role of supervisor within the context of educating nurses at specific institutes of tertiary medical education and clinical nursing practice in the Czech Republic? The qualitative research was conducted using 26 semi-structured interviews with the academic instructors of nurses throughout the Czech Republic. The constituent results of the research, which the authors present in the article in the form of a model of the interdisciplinary approach to supervision, can be taken by academic instructors of nurses as inspiration, guidelines or arguments to be applied in conceiving the model and preparing the conditions under which to implement the concept of supervision in nursing practice and the curricula of education programs in nursing, and in particular the specialization of general nurse.
