A unique part of the Charles University's map collection, which in reality finds home at the Faculty of Science, is now being open to public also virtually. Eighty three globes - including rare ones, those that can be lit, or globes of the Moon - were professionally catalogued, photographed and shared on-line.
It is now possible to study them in detail, georeferenced, and in 3D. This technology is not at all common, and Prague experts reached out for an international collaboration in this matter.
The second virtual exhibition of globes in Central Europe stirs a high interest among visitors; there were 750 hits on the web site one month after opening.
