Abstract

In this article we would like to present selected results of our research which studied working conditions of lifeguards in the Czech Republic. We trust that lifeguarding is a noble profession that, however, does not get enough attention in academic circles.

That is why we gathered, using a questionnaire method, extensive amount of data relating to lifeguards' satisfaction with their own work conditions. All sought characteristics came out very strongly related to each other with the strongest aspect - superiors influence.

Outgoing data also showed that most lifeguards are satisfied with their work conditions and lifeguarding itself, but not every one of them shares this opinion. To distinguish different views on lifeguard's job, we identified different groups of lifeguards based on their work conditions' perception and described these groups by their essential attributes.
