Specifics of Teacher Authority

Abstract

The article deals with authority from the point of view of education. It specifically focuses on the definition and scope of understanding of authority as an educational phenomenon.

Authors present results of their survey research among student teachers at the Faculty of Education of Charles University including interviews with teachers at lower secondary school level, which are then compared with the approach of Czech and international renowned experts in education. In conclusion authors concentrate on the relativness of authority as an asymmetrical social relation.
