Pragmatic aspects of verbal and nonverbal communication in teaching Czech as a foreign language

Abstract

The article deals with pragmatic aspects of the communication that are culture-specific and may cause difficulties for students who are non-native speakers of Czech. Several issues are presented: power distance in asymmetric communication, self-enhancement in dialogue, politeness formulas, diglossia, nonverbal elements.
