Abstract

The project method is one of the most complex educational methods. Both autonomous and cooperative work are applied.

Learners avouch their own learning and have enough space to reach the goal their own ways. Therefore superior understanding of the learning content is ensured.

Last but not least, motivation plays its role with a proper use of a driving question as well as the learners' awareness that the product of their work will be seen by people outside of the class. From these reasons, the insertion of project-based education in the Framework Educational Programmes was an appropriate step.

The school activities referred to as projects, however, often do not correspond with the mentioned criteria. This paper is a case study of a project day organized at one vocational school in Prague.

The description of the ""project"" is completed with the students' tasks analysis, their cooperation observation, interviews with the students and teachers responsible for the project preparation.
