Big Data and NoSQL Databases

Publication at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |
2015

Abstract

The book is focused on a currently very important area of Big Data processing and on techniques for this purpose. Data of a very large volume, variability and velocity of growth cannot be processed by standard proven technologies since they bring completely new problems that require different solutions.

The authors identify these new problems, formulate fundamental principles of the Big Data processing, and compare these with standard approaches applied in relational databases. The "NoSQL databases" is a common term for a group of database approaches focusing on this field.

This book defines categories of these approaches and identifies common and different features of these categories. The authors deduce and describe a number of theoretical principles applied or applicable for an efficient and reliable Big Data processing in distributed environment.
