Health policy: the process of health policy formulation and implementation; health policy actors and institutions

Abstract
The chapter deals with health policy. Its aim is to introduce students to analytical and explanatory frameworks of health policy processes.
At first, diverse definitions of health policy are cited in order to point out to the importance of definitions in the scientific inquiry. Next, selected approaches of health policy analysis and explanation are introduces.
The chapter includes also an overview of health policy actors and an analysis of actors' power in the Czech setting. Last but not least the chapter categorizes health policy instruments and introduces some basic principles of policy analysis as a scientific discipline.
