Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the population of the Czech Republic (especially in the regions) according to their religion. We chose this theme because religious belief is a discussed topic in Czech society and there is also very widespread atheistic belief.

We used data from the censuses and current records and made statistical analysis maps of the share of believers in districts in years 1991, 2001 and 2011. We also analyzed the districts with the highest and lowest shares and counted basic statistical characteristics and Spearman and Kendal coefficients.

The main part of the study is concerned with the proportioning of the believers in the individual districts in the Czech Republic according to censuses 1991, 2001 and 2011 and it showed that the districts with the highest and lowest share of believers do not change significantly but the share of believers in the districts has decreased rapidly during observed years.
