Application of the survival analysis on the basis of individual historical data. Case study: Marriage cohorts in Jablonec nad Nisou in the 18th century

Abstract

The study presents the possibilities of application of the survival analysis method, commonly used for the data acquired by modern statistics, upon the historical individual data acquired through excerption of names from church registers. Through the analysis of selected characteristics of marriage cohorts of the 18th century in Jablonec nad Nisou is presented the functioning and principal advantages of the survival analysis (censoring of missing data).

The results are compared with the results of traditional methods of historical demography.
