Abstract

Plant polyphenols include a varied group of natural substances contained in food of plant origin. The biologicla impact of these compounds, both health-favourable or harmful, has to be assessed acording to their metabolic turnover in vivo (production of biologically active metabolites) as well as a presence and concentration of metabolic intermediates in the organism.

No direct evidence regarding the health favourable effect of these substances in humans has been presented yet.
