The aim of this article is to understand which is the role of time in the constitution of the act of phantasy in the framework of the phenomenological investigation of Edmund Husserl. This analysis will show us that, according to the German philosopher, temporality is essential for the establishment of imaginary objects, for it grounds the ultimate distinction between imagination and perception.

But the importance of time lies not only in its foundational function, but, as we shall discover, this act also produces in itself a very specific type of temporality.
