Abstract

Presented article deals with successes in basketball of players of YMCA Prague, who were the best players in Czechoslovakia during interwar period. Not only them, but the officials of this organization as well, contributed in development and great popularization of this game.

Since the beginning of organized basketball competitions, teams of the YMCA Prague belonged among the best teams in Czechoslovakia. This position was then confirmed not only by many 1st places in Czechoslovak Championships, but by great performances in international games as well.

Their extraordinary position was lost at the beginning of the WWII, during which the YMCA in Czechoslovakia was forbidden. After the end of the war the YMCA renewed it's activity, but it's basketball players had never achieved such successes as before.
