Abstract
The text of the order in the form of worship is one of the most mysterious works of popular Byzantine Greek. The Spanos is under attack, or smooth-faced beneath which lurks perhaps beardless Latin clergy, who in traditionally Orthodox world pervaded especially after the Crusades.
This designation, however, could also be intended Jews from the West - (Hi) spanoi without a beard. And it is also possible that there is ridiculed - quite simply in a carnival spirit - a man without a beard and a special identity.
