The understanding of the difference between lasers and the intense pulsed light (IPL) requires a deep knowledge of the principles on which the photonic medicine, which has changed dermatology as well as ophthalmology in last years, is based. Unfortunately, rather than facts, the author of this paper meets many myths frequently.
Aim of this work is an attempt to disprove those myths and to show principles and current trends in the use of light technology. The goal is to find differences and similarities in terms of technology, medicine, economy, and safety.
