Sport in Communist Czechoslovakia 1945-1989

Abstract

The chapter is devoted to attempts at unification of physical education and sport in Czechoslovakia. The idea of unification sports organizations and sports association emerged after the Munich Agreement.

Actual unification process started after the end of World War II, when was implemented the concept of a federal union. After the communist coup in February 1948, the Communist Party pushed through a uniform Sokol organization and appointed Communists to leadership positions at all levels of Sokol organization.
