Abstract

Collective monograph Criminal Law of the European Union and its influence on the legal system of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic compares two legal systems of the two neighbouring countries, members of the European Union, and their relation to law of the European Union from the perspective of international law, European law and domestic law, in point of view both de lege lata and de lege ferenda. The first chapters deal with general issues of terminology (criminal law of the European Union and the Europeanization of criminal law), with the relationship between criminal law, administrative law and European Union law (especially in case of sanctioning) and with issues of criminal cooperation (European evidence warrant, European arrest warrant, joint investigation teams, the European Public Prosecutor's Office and others).

Much of the content is focused on specific forms of harmonization, particularly in the fight against money laundering, terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, damaging the environment, corruption, sexual harassment, racial hatred, and in matters of criminal liability of corporations. Monograph ends with selected procedural issues (the concept of a fair trial and adhesion procedure from the perspective of EU law).
