Malnutrition in oncologic patients

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2015

Abstract

Malnutrition is very common among oncologic patients and it tends to be one of the limiting factors of successful treatment of tumours. Its aetiology is complex, from decreased intake in anorexia, to frequent damage to the digestive tract, to chronic inflammations to adverse influence of oncologic therapy as such.

Nutritional support should be indicated early enough, in order to improve the patient's prognosis and quality of life.
