The authors present a case report of a 51-year-old man, who was admitted to hospital after car accident. As a driver he crashed with left side of the car into a tree.
For bilateral pneumothorax and pneumomediastinum with fractured ribs on the left side he underwent a chest drainage. The chest tube went thru pericardium.
The case report demonstrates that any surgery, including thoracic drainage, has its difficulties and serious complications that may require urgent surgical revision.
