Abstract
The aim of the study was to obtain detailed information about passing in the matches in junior top handball. In addition, we sought to determine whether the number of passes has some relationship with the result of the match.
Observation with record was used to obtain the data. We observed six matches of Qualification for European Handball Championship of men U 20.
Categorical systém with following elements was used for the registration: the sum of passes, the transition passes, the preparatory passes and the final passes. In addition we observed two following categories of turnovers by passing and catching the ball: turnovers caused by errors in technique and turnovers caused by errors in tactics.
The results have only indicative nature dues mall number of observed matches. The average number of passes was 751 per team per match.
The winning teams realized more passes in the game. Rank order by total number of passes corresponds to rank order in the competition.
