Abstract

This article discusses the current wave of refugees coming into Europe. It focuses on questions regarding the countries to which refugees tend to come and factors that impact this decision.

The factors can be divided into four categories: geographic, cultural, economic and political, and yet they all complement each other to some degree. In different cases the factors manifest themselves in different ways and different intensities.

The result of these factors and their impacts is a variegated map of Europe, with countries differing significantly in the number and types of refugees.
