Financial conditions in early 15th-century Olomouc in the light of the Jewish register

Abstrakt

The study is based on the analysis of the Olomouc Jewish Register for the years 1413-1428, which affords an opportunity to look into practices involved with money-lending in conditions of underdeveloped financial regulation. The author argues that Jewish loans played an important role particularly in the periods of general lack of money.
