Abstract

Modern-day governance requires appropriate, reactive and just political leadership. This concept is often tested through a series of unforeseen events, problems and international affairs.

One of the recent testing grounds is represented by the massive influx of foreign migrants and refugees which ultimately require adequate attention at the level of nation states and European Union itself. Dealing with the migration crisis, the paper focuses on the current trends of modern political leadership in the selected countries of Visegrad group - Slovakia and the Czech Republic as the referral case studies.

In this paper we introduce the political response from the respective leaders toward the common European migration and integration policy while confronting the rise of extremist measures and attitudes from the national level, such as the public view of the migration crisis.
