Nowadays, new therapies are based on biomolecules delivery into well-defined places within organism such as specific tissues and even single cells thus the treatment is highly targeted and can be tailored for a particular patient. To fulfil this not easy task it is necessary to deeply understand the nature of the delivery process, to know the barriers and to control the techniques for overcoming these barriers.

In the text, the difference between individual biomolecules which could be delivered and used for patient treatment is presented, the cell barriers (membranes) and cell defence against harmful stimuli are described. Then the possible ways of the different cargoes delivery into the cell are exactly determined as well as possible vehicles which can deliver the biomolecules of the interest.

Cargoes for delivery can be chemically treated and thus pass through the cellular membrane via a ""natural"" way or the cargoes can be mechanically introduced directly into cell cytoplasm or the nucleus. From the text it will be evident that the right choice of the best suited method for biomolecule delivery into the cell is related strictly to the biomolecule of interest as well as to the chosen technique.
