Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2015

Abstract

The article deals with the circumstances of construction of the Evangelical church in Nymburk. The church in austere Neo-Renaissance style was built in 1898 by Karlín construction company ""Josef Blecha"".

The building was designed by Gottlob Alber, the architect from Brno, whose wife came from Nymburk. The final shape of the church in Nymburk was influenced by foreign models - German, and probably as well as American.

The article draws the conclusion that the general conception and style of the church fully answer the contemporary demands of Czech Evangelical congregations. A great many Czech Evangelical churches draw analogy to the building in Nymburk.
