Abstract

Contemporary innovation process is increasingly distributed among a large number of networked actors with complementary capabilities. Dense links and efficient communication between firms and knowledge institutions create favourable conditions for commercial exploitation of research and development, and growth of innovation capacities.

Based on extensive data from The Information System of Research, Experimental Development and Innovation of the Czech Republic, this paper aims at further understanding of knowledge linkages that have been created in joint projects with public support. It describes characteristics of the collaborative projects, the participating actors, and combines both perspectives into network analysis.

The employed data sources and methods, despite several constraints, illustrate an example of a way how to better understand the knowledge cooperation in the Czech Republic and bring potentially beneficial implication into policy formulation.
