Abstract

The book is based on observations and theories of embodiment, as it was primarily concerned with anthropologists, ethnologists, psychologists and sociologists. Individual chapters are devoted to selected parts of the human body and its functions: a nose like a sociocultural phenomenon; hair and their symbolism and ritual functions; the touch and things manifested in poetry and fiction; piercing as fashion and as a form of resistance of high school students; functional body modification inspired by cyberpunk literature.
