Abstract
Annual statistical reports are very important source of information about libraries. The article presents possibilities of using statistics in libraries development and management.
The author describes the process of collecting statistical data in all types of Czech libraries. He mentions some international activities in this field too.
He deals with the problems of collecting and interpreting statistical data. There are also examples of usage of library annual statistics for various target groups (employees, users, founders, media etc.).
The article concludes with some examples of the application of statistics in the library practice.
