Abstract

Psoriasis is a systemic inflammatory disease. Genetic and environmental factors play a role in its pathogenesis.

Recent studies refer to association between psoriasis with metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. Negative correlatoin were observed between body mass index BMI and adiponectin, positive correlations were found between BMI and leptin and between BMI and lipocalin 2 in patients with psoriasis.

Indicators like CRP, LpPLA2, lipocalin 2 and leptin could be used to asses the systemic involvement in psoriasis and to recognition and treatment of psoriatic comorbidities early.
