Treatment of erectile dysfunction includes three lines according to the Guidelines of the European Association of Urology: PDE 5 inhibitors as oral therapy, vacuum constriction device, intracavernous injection of prostaglandin E1, and penile prosthesis. New non-pharmacological treatment is low-intensity shock wave therapy.
Most patients benefit from the treatment with oral phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors: sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, and avanafil. A new PDE-5 inhibitor avanafil in the treatment of erectile dysfunction is being presented in the case reports.
