Abstract

The main objective of the article is the identification of a heretofore unknown coat of arms, preserved in the interior of the Church of St James in Bedřichův Světec (Most district). Based on a fragment of the inscription located above the coat of arms, the author believes that it belongs to Václav Vojtěch Pernklo (of Berenklauen), who served as the pastor in nearby Bečov in the years 1677-1699.

The nobleman evidently obtained the coat of arms, unknown in heraldic literature, from Bishop Tomáš Jan Pešina of Čechorod. The article also traces the life of this interesting Baroque scholar, his family and property relations.
