Safety and feeling safe represent important research topics not only for the social sciences but also as a part of urban policy. In recent years, these topics are becoming a frequent issue in political party platforms.
One community that is aiming to tackle the issue of safety is Hodonín. This article presents some of the findings of a research study, carried out in partnership with the municipality of Hodonín and the Agency for Social Inclusion.
Similar studies from other cities from Czechia and abroad provide an informative context for the findings presented. The article emphasizes differences in perceptions of safety from different population groups and factors that impact both perceiving and actually experiencing fear of crime
