Catechesis in today's Czech family

Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2015

Abstract

The chapter in the monograph deals with the situation and potential of catechesis of children in the environment of believing families in the Czech and Moravian Church province. In the introductory part, there are mentioned some factors that pose significant complications, if not obstacles, to the area of catechesis (from the cultural environment and the pressures of the society that undermine or weaken the family, to the absence of their own experience of religious education among many parents).

The purpose of the paper is an attempt to describe the specificity of catechesis in a family environment based on the knowledge of catechetics, but also on the psychology and sociology of the family. The author draws attention to the urgent need for well thought-out and consistent assistance to families, especially by local churches.
