Abstract
The text focuses on the early history of several classical inequalities, in particular the AM-GM inequality, Cauchy-Bunyakovsky-Schwarz inequality, and Jensen's inequality. We revisit their original proofs, and also examine the context in which these inequalities appeared for the first time.
