Vikings in the literary works of Czech writers of the 19th century

Abstract

Old Norse literature inspired many modern authors to write literary adaptations of Eddic poems or sagas. The enthusiasm for the Viking culture came also to the Czech lands.

In the article I describe, how the awareness of the Old Norse literature and culture had been spread to the Czech authors in the 19th century. I also mention some of the most famous writers that found inspiration in the Viking themes.
