Abstract

The research on socio-spatial inequalities in the population health has a longstanding tradition in both foreign and domestic social science. These outputs are subsequently applied both in the field of basic research as well as applied public health policy agenda.

As processes of urbanization and changes in the socio-spatial organization of the society on one hand, and the demographic and epidemiological transition on the other hand have been affecting populations of the Central Europe since several decades, the research on socio-economic inequalities in population health explicitly focused on urban aras gains on a specific importance. The paper presents comprehensive assessment of the spatial distribution of the mortality within the population of the Capital of Prague in the period of 2001-2011.

The spatial analysis was conducted on the level of Prague city districts (MC). Advanced statistical methods and spatial modeling techniques were applied within analyses.

Results have revealed areas with a significantly poorer mortality conditions associated with indices of the social and economic structure of the population living in these areas.
