The article is focussing on laboratory check-up during pregnancy among pregnant women treated with levothyroxine in Czech Republic and compare it with the recommendations of the guidelines of American Thyroid Association 2011. In our experience in the third trimester of pregnancy, thyroid status becomes more stabilized and changes in levothyroxine therapy are less common.

To our knowledge, there is no study evaluating the real necessity of the third trimester check-up among pregnant women treated with levothyroxine, and overtesting itself is still a relatively understudied topic. The conclusion is dedicated to clinical and cost effectiveness of thyroid check-up in the third trimester of gestation in women treated with levothyroxine.
